Yesteryear Collection

In October 1906, a town carriage competition was held in London. Among the taxis exhibited was a Unic Motorcab made by Richard-Brasier of Paris. It excelled above the competition as the best for body work, smooth braking and gear change, easy access and comfort for passengers, and smooth running.
Such was its achievement that the Unic served the London Cab Trade for 25 years.
The cost to buy the chassis in 1907 was 300 gbp.

Unic was a French manufacturer of passenger cars and trucks. The head office was in Puteaux near Paris . The company was founded in 1905 as a manufacturer of passenger cars, but around 1937 the factory switched to the production of trucks. The company was mainly known for the Taxis that they built, including Taxis in London.

Interesting fact: Although described on the box as a 1907 taxi, the (Y28-1) was modelled on a 1906 taxi owned by the London Taxi Preservation Society.

This taxi is a more finely modelled item than many Models of Yesteryear products, it really displays very well indeed.
